Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 Mobile Phone Review: Can Sony Hit Top Marks Again?

The X8 is a good mid range smart phone that comes with some excellent features; the screen is fully able to handle the QWERTY keyboard and isn’t too bulky. The media and Web capabilities are very good. It’s a great little smartphone if you don’t mind not being able to access the full Android Market, but if you want something a bit more meaty that is up-to-date, you will have to look elsewhere.

The on-screen keyboard is thankfully full QWERTY and can be used either in landscape or portrait mode. To be honest it is an excellent virtual keyboard enhanced with autocorrect. The built in memory of 128MB can be increased up to 16GB, and a 2GB microSD card is included when you purchase the phone. The processor is a 600MHz Qualcomm CPU, which is adequate for a phone such as this.

For those of you new to the world of Android apps you may not notice that the X8 is running the older 1.6 version, especially as Sony Ericsson has included its own user interface, however, you should be aware that you will not be able to access Android’s improved developments, including support for multiple Google accounts or Exchange email.

The screen is 3 inches and the user interface supports multiple home screens with relative ease. However, in a strange turn, Sony Ericsson have taken the interface from the X10 mini, which has a 2.5 inch screen so icons look blurred and each screen is only able to show one widget at a time. Sony Ericsson has included their feature, Timescape on the X8, which brings together emails, tweets and texts into one stream.

It is a great idea that appeals to the social networking generation, however it can become slightly irritating in practice because when you open the app you only see a few words of each. The X8 doesn’t support Flash, however there is a dedicated app to support YouTube videos.

When you're saving money and buy cheap phone, you might as well get the best Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 deals on the net. You can also check for mobilephone specs and their prices or just get a cheap Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 monthly contract deal.
